Reflection for PSA

Working on the public service announcement as group was successful as we completed the assignment according to the requirements. Working as a group allowed us to create a better presentation than what we could have done individually but it also introduced new issues. Every member of the group contributed adequately, with me and Hamid doing most of the discussion. In the team I did the slides with the background of what NYC parks do and things people can do to contribute. Furthermore, I added some images and helped with the formatting of the presentation. I had to research about how much the parks department was responsible for and their specific responsibilities. I found information concerning the amount of land that the parks department takes care of and what activities they do toward the efforts of sustainability. Originally in this group project we had trouble with time management, to solve this we used a group chat to create a plan and meeting times. The meeting time I believe was the most critical for the success of this project, just texting wouldn’t allow us to fully get our ideas across, however we used google meets to have a meeting, this allowed us to work more cohesively. During these meetings Hamid and I would discuss the project the most, but Geo and Sabrina also contributed into the actual presentation. Through this assignment we learned how to express information in an engaging and informative way. One of the most important things in this PSA is not including so much information on the slides that the viewers become overwhelmed. It was important to use concise language so that the slides were to the point whilst still being informative. Furthermore, we learned to be consistent on our design choices so that it doesn’t distract from the actual message we are trying to get across. This was key as it implored us to work together more diligently even if we had different responsibilities. Overall in this assignment we learned skills of communication, time management in a group scenario, and skills in design specifically using canva. As a result, this assignment was very valuable to our development as students, writers, and future workers.
